When we come across a new word. We should guess its meaning through the contest first. Then look it up in the dictionary to have a check. I thin,, it is a good way of reading. Fourthly, we should practice our writing skills. Whenever we have any idea, we should get the pen and write it down at once. It is very important to avoid writing in Chinese way and using the Chinese grammar. As long as we listen, speak, read and write more, we are sure to make remarkable progress!
I suggest that words be memorized in phrases, in sentences and in passages. In a context, words are much easier to understand. Also, in this way, you can master the usage of each word. If a word appears frequently in an article, you may memorize it after you finish reading the article. If it doesnt, you can read the article over and over again so as to memorize it. Its far more interesting to enlarge your vocabulary in this way, isnt it?

How I have overcome some difficulties in learning English
I have had many difficulties since I started to learn English. Since I come from the south of China, I can not distinguish nasal sounds from non-nasals: they sound exactly the same in my dialect. Thus, I had a hard time telling “night” from “light” at the very beginning. My poor memory also added to the difficulties when I decided to enlarge my vocabulary. English words were so elusive that I could only remember them for a while.
I have spared no efforts to overcome the difficulties and finally succeeded. In order to tell the slight difference between nasal sounds and non-nasals, I forced myself to speak mandarin everyday. Whenever I started to speak English, I reminded myself the difference between “night” and “light”. At first I felt it rather unnatural, but as I went on I was gradually accustomed to speaking in this way. As for my wretched memory, I gave up mechanical memorization and tried many other new ways. At last I found a most efficient way for me: memorizing English words by their stems and affixes. This is how I have overcome some difficulties in learning English.
My favorite subject is English. I was interested in learning English when I was a little child.
How to do it well? The most important thing is that when you are learning English, you must listen to the teacher carefully. I listen to the English news on the radio from VOA, BBC, CRI, too. While listening to the news, I write down everything I hear so that I can learn some expressions and also practice my dictation. When I find my reading is not poor, I begin to read China Daily, China Today, Readers Digest, and some other English materials.

初中第一节英语课是我首次开始学*英语的时候，这节课是我们的班主任徐老师教我们的。
徐老师是个高挑的身材女老师，那时她还没结婚呢。不过，教学严厉是她的风格，用刀子嘴豆腐心来形容她也许没错。
徐老师的英语课，起立后，我们会用英语喊徐老师好，虽然我觉得那句英语翻译是徐小姐好，但我和大家都人人迷不悟的样子，我们做一天和尚撞一天中，上一天徐老师的英语课就这么喊。
上课后，徐老师讲完一部分总是要提问的，她*惯让同学们从前往后一个个回答，第一个回答后，她就用英语喊下一个，每当听到“下一个”那个单词，我就心里发慌，我想大家也是一样的感受吧。
英语课默写单词是众所周知的事情，一次，上课，八百年没被叫到的我被喊起来去黑板上默写单词，奇怪的是，这次让默写的数字一二三四这一类的英语我全都写对了，回去心中惊喜，哎呀竟然可以全对！
不过*时，更多的是默写出问题的，徐老师经常会让我们去办公室，去默写单词、去背书、去订正作业等，她最常说的好像是：“这个我讲过没？这我都讲了多少遍了，你们怎么就记不住呢！”她偶尔会抓着同学们的耳朵，更多的是用她那可怕的言语说我们，那言语和表情，可是要杀了的样子！
虽然徐老师很严厉的样子，但她确实很少打我们，*时很关心我们，尤其是当我在办公室被数学老师打的时候哭了的那次，她在身旁安慰我不要哭，那瞬间的温柔充满了母性的光辉。
我们就这样，每天在徐老师严厉的管教下学*英语，英语进步很快，期末我的英语考试应该是全年级第一名了！然而，徐老师要请假回家结婚了，这时她离开我们，离开了这个班级，以后偶尔也看到过她一两次，但是从此，徐老师就再也没有教过我们班级英语了，一种突然的失落和默默的伤感在心中出现了。
如今，初中已经是遥远的过去了，回忆里，徐老师那充满爱心的英语教育依然回荡在那所学校的上空。
