When people succeed, it is because of hard work, but luck has a lot to do with it, too. Success without some luck is almost impossible. The French emperor Napoleon said of one of his generals, "I know hes good. But is he lucky?" Napoleon knew that all the hard work and talent in the world cant make up for bad luck. However, hard work can invite good luck.
When it comes to success, luck can mean being in the right place to meet someone, or having the right skills to get a job done. It might mean turning down an offer and then having a better offer come along. Nothing can replace hard work, but working hard also means youre preparing yourself for opportunity. Opportunity very often depends on luck.
How many of the great intentions and discoveries came about through a lucky mistake or a lucky chance? One of the biggest lucky mistakes in history is Columbus so-called discovery of America. He enriched his sponsors and changed history, but he was really looking for India. However, Columbus chance discovery wasnt pure luck. It was backed up by years of studying and calculating. 对于英语有不少同学烦恼，我们应该如何学好英语？其实要学好英语，并不难，只要我们每天上课认真，把该记忆的词汇都认真记住，打好底子，我们学起来就要容易很多。
我们考试的时候，听力填词或者做题都需要我们掌握词汇，听懂英语。这是一门语言，我们就应该进行练*，多说多看，如果有时间，我们可以看一些英语书籍，锻炼自己的英语学*能力，学*更多的词汇。学*不可能一蹴而就，全靠每天努力学*，我们学*英语的重点分为单词，语法，听力这三方面。
对于单词，我们就应该多记多背，单词需要每天记忆，而且需要重复记忆，如果你当天记住了这个单词，但你却不愿意一直复*，总会有一天忘记。我们除了学*新单词，更要复*已经学过的单词，现在我们需要学*的单词比较少，那我们就应该把他们完全掌握。比如我们每天学*十个单词，两天后我们就必须要再次温*我们学过的单词，如果这样感觉记忆非常累，那么我们可以通过阅读英语文章来加强单词记忆，并且每天坚持，只要我们每天都按时学*，掌握更多的单词我们的基础就能够打牢固，这样就方便了接下来的学*。
想学好英语，首先要培养对英语的兴趣。“兴趣是最好的老师”,兴趣是学*英语的巨大动力，有了兴趣，学*就会事半功倍。而兴趣不是与生俱来的，需要培养。有的同学说：“我一看到英语就头疼，怎么能培养对英语的兴趣呢？”还有的同学说：“英语单词我今天记了明天忘，我太笨了，唉，我算没治了。”这都是缺乏信心的表现。初学英语时，没有掌握正确的学*方法，没有树立必胜的信心，缺乏了克服困难的勇气，稍遇失败，就会向困难低头，学*积极性也逐渐降低，自然也就不会取得好成绩。但是，只要在老师的帮助下，认识到学英语的必要性，用正确的态度对待英语学*，用科学的方法指导学*，时间长了，懂得多了，就有了兴趣，学*起来就有了动力和欲望。
其次练好基本功是学好英语的必要条件，没有扎实的英语基础，就谈不上继续学*，更谈不上有所成就。要想基本功扎实，必须全神贯注地认真听讲，上好每一节课，提高课堂效率。因此我们应该做到以下“五到”：
一、“心到”。在课堂上应聚精会神，一刻也不能懈怠，大脑要始终处于积极状态，思维要活跃、思路要开阔，心随老师走，听懂每一句话，抓住每一个环节，理解每一个知识点，多联想、多思考，做到心领神会。
二、“手到”。学英语，一定要做课堂笔记。因为人的记忆力是有限的，人不可能都过目不忘，记忆本身就是不断与遗忘作斗争的过程。常言说，“好记忆不如烂笔头”。老师讲的知识可能在课堂上记住了，可是过了一段时间，就会忘记，所以，做好笔记很有必要。英语知识也是一点点积累起来的，学到的每一个单词、词组以及句型结构，都记在笔记本上，甚至是书空白处或字里行间，这对以后的复*巩固都是非常方便的。
三、“耳到”。在课堂上，认真听讲是十分必要的，不但要专心听老师对知识的.讲解，而且要认真听老师说英语的语音、语调、重音、连读、失去爆破、断句等发音要领，以便培养自己纯正地道的英语口语。听见听懂老师传授的每一个知识点，在头脑里形成反馈以帮助记忆；理解领会老师提出的问题，以便迅速作答，对比同学对问题的回答，以加深对问题的理解而取别人之长补自己之短。
In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.
After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.
Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.
At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
One night， I plained to my mom about the lack of time。 Finally she said，"you are short of time just because you waste precious minutes on plaints and anxiety。 The point is， no matter how full your schedule is， if you try really hard， you can always fit in some thing more。"
