Volunteering a few hours each week to some community activity is an important way of investing in the future of our society. I chose to spend my time working with elementary school children helping them to learn to read. Developing good reading skills will help these students keep up with their classmates, open new worlds to them, and help them succeed in life.
Students who are not good readers cannot keep up with their studies. They will not understand the lessons; they will come to school unprepared; they will not be able to perform. By learning to read, students will be on equal footing with their classmates. They will be active participants in class.
Books on different lifestyles, occupations, cultures, or governments will open new doors to students. Students who can’t read will only know what they see around them. Students who can read will be able to travel to new worlds and experience new ideas without ever leaving their classrooms.
Today, a person who can’t read is severely handicapped. A non-reader will have to work at the most menial jobs. Readers, especially good readers, have the whole universe open to them. They will have the possibility to learn any job that interests them.
By volunteering to help an elementary school child learn to read, I am helping him or her not only today, but for the rest of his or her life. I am helping them keep pace with their peers and explore the world and themselves through books.

记得我们才搬进1——3时，半夜三更[注: 一夜分为五更，三更是午夜十二时。指深夜。]在被窝里讲鬼故事，所有的人都被吓得心筋肉跳的，都被吓得一晚上没有睡着。第二天，我们全都成了国宝！不知那位仁兄将我起诉到miss罗那里去了。我被miss罗臭骂了一顿。后来我垂头丧气的回到了1--3，你走过来安慰我：“室长真是苦了你了！真是的！那个告你的人未免也太小人了吧！自己硬是要听，听了害怕还去向老师打小报告！”我无奈的叹了一声气，我是再替我自己哀伤：居然受了委屈只有一个人愿意安慰我！我也是在替自己开心：竟然还有一个人愿意安慰我！哀伤之余，心中还有一丝小小的感动！
是啊！其他人都莫不关心我，挨骂的是我不是她们所以当然无所谓了，你的关心、你的在乎真的是我冰冰凉凉的心又热了半截。那天我在qq空间上发了一篇文章。我在文章里这样写道：“毕竟我的过去也并不是那么光彩，学*成绩也难以见人，被人看不起也是应该的，更何况对方是每次都考第一的班长，我在她面前就像是一只卑微的蝼蚁，有什么资格去反驳至高无上的她呢？”
后来你给我的评论让我感动到喷泪。你说：“谁说她每次都考第一了？只是这学期而已，她不理解你是她的事，我们理解你就够了！”虽然这句话看似很普通。但是它却充满了力量！这些话代表着，我的努力、我的付出有人理解有人看见了！我所做的也有人支持了，在我的战场上我不再是孤零零的一个人在浴血奋战！

我不会忘记，我们认识后的每一个镜头，无论快不快乐，开不开心，那些都是精彩的过去，值得收藏的回忆！
红花湖的大名早就如雷贯耳，只是以前没有机会亲临。今天总算逮了个理由，春节加情人节，让自己有个好心情，应一个朋友之邀去看红花湖，心里别提有多激动了。
第一次踏入红花湖大门，就象刘姥姥进了大观园，每一处的风景都是那么新奇而有风味，让我目不暇接。因为还是大清早，路上行人并不多，许多人趁春节放假还在补睡眠做梦吧。但游人也并不少，三三两两，男女老少，有拿相机拍摄的，也有指手画脚做导游的，还有骑着自行车谈笑风生的。淡淡的阳光温暖而又和煦。这是春之初吧，山上并没有换绿意昂然的新装。
第一处风景是永福寺，但我们只是从旁边经过了。也许这时我们并不想静下尘念，遁入空门。
第二处风景是回峰轩，我一边爬阶梯一边数数，想要知道如果到达山顶，会要跨过多少个阶梯，气喘嚅嚅地数了500个，却还不到半山腰，要是再数下去就没有力气继续往上爬了。
真的是峰回路转，柳暗花明，到得山顶就是挂榜阁，此时才知道自己爬的山就是闻名遐迩的高榜山。难怪那么陡，那么奇，那么地充满了诱惑。
重点参观了挂榜阁，它共有七层，其中有二层蕴含深意的名字我很喜欢：惠风和畅、志存高远。对啊，社会就是要和谐，才能达到互赢共勉的境界；人就是要有远大的理想和目标，才有前进的动力和方向。还不曾进阁，就看到阁前的广场上左右各有一棵粗大的细榕叶树，虽然它们都有275岁了，但看上去还是魁梧、茁壮、茂盛、浓郁，还且还有好听的名字，一个叫“将军”，一个叫“状元”。进入阁内的大厅，首先映入眼帘的就是伸出神指、低首合眼沉思的孔子铜像。孔子是我此生最敬仰的人，而我最敬重的就是他那“明知不可为而为之”的思想和行为。我想大家跟我想的也差不多吧。
挂榜阁的第二层里摆设着“曲阜孔子庙”的缩影微型建筑物，有九进庭院。看着它们就象是进入了古时风沙弥漫的年代，而他正为六国联衡抗秦周游列国。
阁的第三层里的墙上有挂有名人书画，那些字画我是不懂得欣赏，但我很喜欢其中的一首诗，那是苏东坡的，现在我只记得其中的两句画龙点睛之作：浮生薄如纸，茫茫万重山。走在阁楼处廊，站在高处一览众山小。我也不得不感慨：是非成败转头空，青山依旧在，几度夕阳红。这恰与陶公的《归去来兮》遥相呼应：结庐在人境，而无车马喧。问君何能尔？心远地自偏。日夕山气佳，飞鸟相与还。采菊东篱下，悠然见南山。
不能一一介绍挂榜阁的各层景致了，有兴趣的朋友找机会亲自来看吧。
走了大半天，才下了高榜山，来到故乡园，两只脚好痛啊，最受苦的是脚趾头，是他们当先锋部队。真的走不动了，于是脱下鞋子，打赤脚。幸好全是干净的水泥路，走起来还很舒服的。
故乡园里，*老革 . 命前辈的墓园好大啊，也很有气势，依山而建，高瞻远瞩。墓山上，幽静、菊花、庄严肃穆；墓山下，荷塘、桃花、人群。一种敬仰之情油然而生，默哀了片刻才下山。
来到最山脚的红花湖环湖绿道上，我打着赤脚提着鞋，这时已是下午了。人们从四面八方涌了出来，三五人群地沿湖赏景，还有很多人兴致勃勃地骑着单车环湖旅行里，他们是看风景的人，而他们自己也成了别人眼中绝妙的风景。
与西湖相比，红花湖的水真长啊，长得象条条银蛇山舞；红花湖的水真静啊，象一面面镜子*铺着；红花湖的水真绿啊，各种树和灌木倒影在水中央。如果说西湖是娴淑的少女引人入胜，那红花湖就是丰满成熟的少妇，风韵诱人；如果说西湖是一瓶香浓的牛奶，那红花湖就是一壹醉人的老酒。
人潮如浪潮，汹涌来汹涌去。我簇拥在这人海里，仿佛是沧海一粟，感受这点点的幸福，而遗忘了人世的烦恼。
夕阳西下了，倦鸟也要归巢。全程18公里的环湖绿道凭我的双腿是走不完的了，只好往回走。走到来处的永福寺，我们商量着进去各*了把香还拜了菩萨。许了心愿，但愿我们都能心想事成，梦想成真。人不都是为着这个心愿和梦想而活着的吗？
从哪里来，又要回到哪里去。第一次看红花湖的风景，真有余兴未尽的感觉，希望下一次还能来。人生又何偿不是如此，曾经陪我们看风景的人，不一定能陪我们看完全程，但愿有来生，让我们再一次相遇。
花儿心中最美的是明艳的阳光；鸟儿心中最美的是广阔的天空；鱼儿心中最美的是无垠的大海……而我心中最美的是——母爱。

“王潇潇，79分！”这句话犹如晴空霹雳般直击我的心头。
我独自走在回家的路上，那一幕犹如电影在我脑海中循环播放着：
“王潇潇，79分！”随着老师的声音，同学们不约而同的向我投来了惊奇的目光，仿佛都不敢相信。是的，连我自己都不敢相信。但是，望着手上的这份试题，的确，这上面写着一个鲜红的“79”。渐渐的，一层晶莹如水的东西从我脸上滑落，视线越来越模糊……
书包仿佛比以往沉重了许多，树上的鸟儿也在叽叽喳喳的嘲笑我，天空也阴沉着脸……
不知不觉中，我已经回到了家里。
“潇潇，你们这次考试的分数下来了吗？考得怎么样？”妈妈走出厨房问我。当她看到我一脸沮丧，便都明白了。
我本以为一场巨大的“暴风雨”将迎面而来，没想到妈妈却说了许多安慰和鼓励我的话。
我的心情顿时好了许多。
“来，把试卷拿过来，让我们一起来分析分析！”
“嗯！”我应声答应着，并把试卷递给妈妈。
妈妈看过题后，便一道道的耐心为我讲解，直到深夜。
母爱如清风，抚*我心中的痛。

“都是你，都是你，你害我被老师骂！”
“什么？你有没有搞错，明明是你害我被老师骂，我没有说你，你反而说我？”
“就是你，要不是因为你，我会变成现在这个样子吗？”
“你讲不讲道理啊？我，我不理你了！”
我说完，便扔下她，一个人跑了。
“怎么了？发生什么事了？”妈妈看到我一脸怒气，便问我。我说，我跟好朋友闹翻了。妈妈问清了事情的原委，便对我说：“孩子啊，做人要学会宽容，不要为了小事而斤斤计较。你们这样你一句我一句地互相指责对方，只会在对方的心灵上留下一道深深的伤痕，以后无论如何都无法弥补了。以后无论发生什么事，你都要学会换个角度去想想，多为别人着想。每说出一句话，都要考虑会不会给别人带来伤害，因为你将对这句话负责。记住了吗？”听了妈妈意味深长的一段话，我想了想，不无道理。于是，我点了点头，说：“我记住了。妈，我明天就去给她道歉。”妈妈听了，脸上露出了欣慰的笑容。

从小学到初中，我看着你从稚气未脱走向成熟。你额头上也在逐渐冒起一颗、两颗、三颗………“青春痘”；你的声音也从稚嫩细腻变得深沉；你的思维也趋于缜密………但是，不变的，是你的活泼，你的豁达，你的开朗、乐观………
自从你上了初三，功课量相比初二来说增加了几倍。而你，依然不变的是你的执着。虽然作业量成倍的增加，但你还是能超前完成，并且保质保量，即便等待你的是漫无边际的“题海”。
还记得初二时的你吗？那时的你虽然也在不停地写作业，但还能抽出空余时间去练唱，练舞，炼画。妈妈在别人面前提起你，也是满脸的自豪，“看，我儿子又会素描，歌又唱得好，拉丁舞还跳得棒………拉丁舞十级啊？我儿子早就过了！”那时的你可以说是多才多艺。现在，妈妈虽然帮你把兴趣班的钱交了，但是，每次问你去不去时，你总说没空。当她要求你帮她拍照，陪她爬山、锻炼身体时，你总说忙。作业好似“捆仙索”，把你这只“猴子”牢牢地给绑住了。现在，妈妈见你头发长了，建议你去理发，你一边答应着，一边还奋笔疾书，叫着，“等会儿，等会儿，最后还剩两道题。”………你知道吗？自从你上了初三，脾气就有些不好，性格也变得急躁。妈妈远远地望着你，眉头紧锁。你知道吗？她在为你担忧。头上的白发又多了几根。想到这儿，我更为你担忧了。
初三的你，感觉到了压力。常常会熬夜看书、写作，但是仅仅是因为这多付出的半个多小时，你第二天的课堂状态却受到了严重影响：有时，你会被老师点名回答问题却因为走神答不上；有时，你会上课打盹；有时………

我看到你，当知道语文成绩的时候，还面带微笑，但我知道，你是装的。当知道数学成绩之后，你虽还有笑容，但眉头一有些皱起。当知道了英语成绩的时候，你全然不顾的大笑了起来。为什么？是因为你英语考得好吗？不！这是你在哭泣，是你不愿让别人看到你的脆弱，所以，你笑了。你的笑声变得沙哑，眼圈变得红润。你知道吗？那时天空也在哭泣，风儿也在呼嚎。那时，我的心也在流血，看到你如此悲伤，我在担忧你能否禁得住这次打击……
“你不应该这样，害得我一直为你担忧！”

对着镜中的自己，我说道。
“不要再让我为你担忧了，好吗？”

秋风**，丹桂飘香，在这个金秋时节，我校一年一度的秋季运动会也拉开了序幕。
此刻，我们班的参赛运动员贾雯雯正站在800米长跑赛道前蓄势待发。我们站在跑道旁，准备为她呐喊鼓劲儿。
“砰！”随着裁判的一声枪响，运动员们都如离弦的箭般冲了出去，运动场上顿时炸开了锅，一声声响亮的加油助威声充斥着整个赛场，陪跑的队伍更是声势浩大！
前两圈贾雯雯都跑得飞快，我尽力在操场上穿梭，试图跟进她的速度，可终是无法跟上，只得用视线紧跟她的脚步。到了第三圈，贾雯雯开始有些体力不支了，我们快速跟了上去，跟着她的节奏为她加油打气，她攒足了劲又一次咬紧牙关向前冲刺......
终于，她冲过了终点，马上被守候在终点的同学接了下来，我们一窝蜂围了上去，你一言我一语地询问她的身体状况。她大口大口地喘着粗气，摇了摇头示意自己没事，然后在两位同学的搀扶下慢慢走回了班级*位。而我们又再次紧张了起来，因为我们班的另一位女子参赛运动员郝心慧也要开始比赛了。
又是一声响亮的枪声，郝心慧反应极快地冲了出去，眼里满是斗志，速度不断提高，即使在后半段赛程也咬牙拼命保证速度。整个过程同样让人感到热血沸腾。
冲过终点线，郝心慧在喘了两口气后双腿直接瘫软了下来，我们急忙架住她，毕竟是800米，全程还几乎没怎么缓过一会儿，身体肯定会招架不住呀。她双手紧握，痛苦地喘着气，因严重缺氧都被硬生生逼出两滴眼泪，大家都急忙出各种主意想让她好受一点，郝心慧一边努力调整着，一边在同学的搀扶下艰难地走回班级。
在往回走的时候，我不经意间注意到了赛场上其他班上的同学，别班也有很多跑完比赛后瘫倒在地上的同学，同班的同学都着急地为他们送水、散热，此时的他们似乎早已不在乎什么名次了，更在意的是参赛者的身体和情绪状况。
是啊，赛道上飞驰的运动员们为了班级的荣誉，拿出最顽强的意志，拼尽了速度，耗尽了体能......就凭这一点，他们个个都是当之无愧的英雄！配得上那份充满了关怀与相互理解的同窗情谊！
