I have spent most of my life as a Democrat. I recently have seen fit tofollow another course. I believe that the issues confronting us cross partylines. Now, one side in this campaign has been telling us that the issues ofthis election are the maintenance of peace and prosperity. The line has beenused, "We've never had it so good."
But I have an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn't something onwhich we can base our hopes for the future. No nation in history has eversurvived a tax burden that reached a third of its national income. Today, 37cents out of every dollar earned in this country is the tax collector's share,and yet our government continues to spend 17 million dollars a day more than thegovernment takes in. We haven't balanced our budget 28 out of the last 34 years.We've raised our debt limit three times in the last twelve months, and now ournational debt is one and a half times bigger than all the combined debts of allthe nations of the world. We have 15 billion dollars in gold in our treasury; wedon't own an ounce. Foreign dollar claims are 27.3 billion dollars. And we'vejust had announced that the dollar of 1939 will now purchase 45 cents in itstotal value.
As for the peace that we would preserve, I wonder who among us would liketo approach the wife or mother whose husband or son has died in South Vietnamand ask them if they think this is a peace that should be maintainedindefinitely. Do they mean peace, or do they mean we just want to be left inpeace? There can be no real peace while one American is dying some place in theworld for the rest of us. We're at war with the most dangerous enemy that hasever faced mankind in his long climb from the swamp to the stars, and it's beensaid if we lose that war, and in so doing lose this way of freedom of ours,history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the mostto lose did the least to prevent its happening. Well I think it's time we askourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by theFounding Fathers.
Not too long ago, two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, abusinessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story one of myfriends turned to the other and said, "We don't know how lucky we are." And theCuban stopped and said, "How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to." Andin that sentence he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there'sno place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.
And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has noother source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and themost unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man.
This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity forself-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that alittle intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for usbetter than we can plan them ourselves.
You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right.Well I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There's onlyan up or down -- [up] man's old -- old-aged dream, the ultimate in individualfreedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap oftotalitarianism. And regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives,those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downwardcourse.

One Student Is Just Like a Flower
My dear Mr. and Misses, my fellows schoolmates,
Good morning! As you know and see, it is a sunny bump harvest season. In the city, in our school campus, everywhere is surrounded with roses which we together planted 4 years ago. Today may these roses and our friendship as well be together and comfort our excited hearts!
It was four years ago that everyone of us came from every part of China and formed a new collective. As we are young, it’s very easy for us to communicate. It was in the past four years that we were ambitious. It was in the past four years that we worried. It was in the past four years that we were content. It was in the past four years that we were vexed. It was in the past four years that we were friendly and lonely ... and it was in the past fours that we studied, lived and respected each other with genuine and with our ambitions. Nothing in the world is more significant than we miss all of these.
We miss you─teachers who are tireless in teaching; we will keep your gestures and your white hairs in our hearts dee*; we will miss the quietness with the lights at night in the classroom; we will miss the race and exercise on the playground; we will miss even the crowds in the dining hall and the quarrel on the beds; we will still miss every green piece and every piece of waste paper flying like flakes in the air ... However, today we will leave nothing but the first rose with our Alma Mater and our teachers which is entrusted with our love and respect.
4 years seems very long but 4 years seems very short. From now on, we all will go into the society. The society is broad and wide for us. We will shoulder heavy responsibilities; we will work diligently; and we will expect to be informed of good news from one another. Now, I beg you all to cherish the occasion; to remember the names, the status, appearance and the character of the person around you. The topic of my speech today is “Being a Good Listener”.
Good listening can always show respect，promote understanding，and improve interpersonal relationship.
Many people suggest that parents should listen more to their children，so they will understand them better，and find it easy to narrow the generation gap；teachers should listen more to their students，then they can meet their needs better，and place themselves in a good relationship with their students；students should listen more to their classmates，thus they will help and learn from each other，and a friendship is likely to be formed.
What I want to stress is that each of us should listen more to others. Show your respect and never stop others till they finish their talk；show you are interested by a supportive silence or a knowing smile；be open—minded to different opinions even though you don’t like them. In a word，good listening can really enable us to get closer to each other.

Confidence starts in the mind.What you think of yourself very much influences the way you feel about yourself. This, in turn, affects the way you speak and act.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. The very first thing you have to do to create abundant
self-confidence is to start thinking ourselves with confidence. Pay attention to your internal dialogue, and learn to notice when you allow negativity or doubt to control the course of your thinking.
Your environment has a tremendous influence on you. The books you read, the people you spend time with, and the music you listen to all influence the way you think and feel about yourself and the world around you.
In a nutshell, your environment can either build up your self-confidence or drag it down.
If you're in a situation where you're discouraged, such as an unhealthy relationship or a miserable job, you have to change that situation if you want your self-confidence level to grow.
Create an environment that supports you if your desire to have abundant self-confidence. Spend time with confident people. Remember those, self-confidence can be yours. Take it!
If you could choose what kind of world to live in, what kind of world would you choose? If you could decide what would happen tomorrow, with what kinds of things would you fill it?
If you had the power to decide what types of opportunities would come your way, what opportunities would you select? If you knew that your experiences would match your expectations, what would your expectations be?
In fact, you do have the power to choose your own way. You do have the ability to decide what kinds of events, experiences, opportunities and circumstances come your way.
The world you experience is the world that your dreams, your thoughts, your expectations and your actions most closely resonate_. The world you see and live in is the world you most sincerely expect to see.
The universe is filled with endless possibilities, and those possibilities keep growing with every minute. The way you live determines which of those possibilities will come into your life.
With your thoughts, your actions, your values, your dreams and expectations, you choose what kind of world you live in. The way you live is closely mirrored in the world you see.

尊敬的各位领导、各位老师：
大家下午好！
首先感谢区教研室的领导给我一次与大家交流的机会。在座的各位毕业班英语老师都是经验非常丰富的，在大家面前来谈英语教学的经验实在是惭愧。为了提高英语教学质量，我的确是想了很多的办法，这里面有成功带来的喜悦，也有失败带来的反思。这些谈不上经验，现简单地做个介绍，如有不当之处，敬请各位批评指正。
记得刚刚走上工作岗位的我曾经信心百倍，认为小学英语教学应该是很简单的事情，不就是听、说、读、写嘛，没什么难的，但真正开始教学，真正开始接触学生之后，我才感觉到：小学英语教学尤其是我们农村学生的英语教学真是坎坷难行。教学一开始我就遇到了种种问题。有一大部分学生在潜意识里根本没有把英语当一回事，有些学生甚至有抵触的情绪。从家庭上看，我们的学生家庭大部分属于农村家庭，英语没有被受到重视，再加上家长能听懂英语的少之又少，更别说辅导了。从环境上来看，学生除了课堂上短短的40分钟外，基本上就没有使用英语的环境了，放学后听英语磁带的作业也有大部分学生不能自觉完成，再加上英语课课时较少，因此我的英语教学开展得并不顺畅。面对如此多的问题，我决定从学生的学*兴趣、学*方法和学**惯方面去入手解决。现想从我的切身体会谈几点做法及建议：
一、要从自身找原因，培养学生学*英语的兴趣。
自己先要想办法，持有一份乐观的态度，勤思考，乐奉献。给学生一份爱，让学生喜欢你，从而喜欢上你的英语课。因为兴趣是最好的老师，当学生喜欢上你的课了，专心地听讲了，那课堂上所取得的效果不就事半功倍了吗？在培养学生学*兴趣方面，我做了如下工作：
（一）、用爱去灌溉学生。
首先用心地给学生一份爱。因为爱可以融化人与人之间的隔阂，给学生一份爱，同时你也会收获到他们对您的爱。我们要在日常生活接触中体现爱，例如下课后，我大多时间都会逗留在班里，跟他们谈谈学*上的问题、说说家常话或开个玩笑逗逗他们，他们会不亦乐乎。时间长了，他们就把我当朋友了。记得20xx年那届我班有个顽皮又聪明的学生叫黄永樟，各门功课成绩极差，经常不及格甚至低分，是让语文数学老师头疼的学生。可英语科他却十分感兴趣，能拿八、九十分，为什么他英语成绩那么高呢，原因是他被我“俘虏”了，很爱上英语课，也很喜欢给我拉家常。有一次，下课了，他走到我跟前，兴奋地告诉我，他家大母狗生了5条小狗，可爱极了。
（二）、注重课前、课堂中气氛的调和。
每次上课走来，总能从楼下听到我班朗朗的英语读书声，当我站在讲台上的第一句话便是及时地、微笑着表扬他们：“Youhadagoodjob，children。”在楼下我已经能听到你们朗朗的读书声了，老师真开心啊，你们读得那么好，或很自豪的或说：“哇，你们读书真棒，所有老师听了也对你们竖起了大拇指”，这样小小的表扬就充分树立他们的自信心，他们会很高兴，下次他们会读得更好。别以为这样的方法六年级不适用了，恰好这些方法我都是一年级，六年级通用的，课堂上也注重学生的学*状态，随时调整课堂气氛，使学生在一个良好的氛围里不知不觉地学到了知识。记得去年的六（1）班下午第一节英语，由于3月份天气原因，学生总有一种“春眼不觉晓，处处闻啼鸟”的倦态，那节课学生的精神状态很差，学*积极性不高，我想：如果这样讲下去效果肯定不好，于是我临时利用我班的搞笑大王叶宝彬同学做着火点，从他入手，我说：“Hello宝彬，howoldareyoutoday？”他被我突如其来的问题吓愣了，我顺势说：“我猜你有30岁了”全班同学一听，哈的一声笑起来，眼神都看着宝彬，我说：“看你今天上课的心态有30岁了吧？好，老师决定今天帮你时光倒流，把你变成3岁的小孩子，好吗？”这时宝彬不好意思的笑了，全班同学也来起了精神，他们倒要看看我怎样把宝彬同学变成一个3岁的小孩子。也许有的老师会说，这样每天浪费时间在与学*无关的事上，不就事倍功半了吗？我觉得恰恰相反，每节课恰当的气氛调节，是课堂上良好的调料，把他们的学*注意力集中到课堂上，那效果不就事半功倍了吗，总比罗罗嗦嗦讲纪律强多了，而实践证时，我也收到了较好的教学效果
二、抓好课堂教学掌握良好的学*方法。
不管是哪一门学科，要想有好成绩，课堂教学的质量是最重要的，课后炒冷饭，补的效果当然也有，那肯定会费时费力。在课堂教学方面，要注意方法，尤其是一些无味枯燥的内容，要找易于学生理解的切入点，要想方设法吸引学生。对于自己今天所上的'内容自己一定要有个清晰的思路，课后及时反思。例如反思一下你今天教的开心吗？学生学得开心吗？学生学到了什么，遗漏了什么等等。同时对于一些后进生，课堂上千万不要丢掉他们，不理他们，不给他们发言、练说的机会。相反，要像警察一样时常盯着他们，与他们进行目光的交流。因为他们后进，可能有更多的听不懂的地方，而容易开小差，教师的目光以及点名回答，一是提醒他认真听课，同时也是在给他练*的机会。
三、培养良好的学**惯。
（一）、全面实行“一帮一”，充分发挥学生的作用。
为了提高英语教学质量，提高学生的英语学*成绩，我还注意培养学生的互助学**惯，分小组学*，小组成员结成一帮一的互助对子，充分发挥学生的作用，例如做有关语法和时态得练*题时，让他们同桌或小组讨论：这题为什么这样做，原因是什么，让他们用语法或时态等说出理由，说服对方。这样既让基础好的学生所学的知识得到了巩固，又帮助了其他的同学共同进步，不再出现很严重的“两极分化”，可以说是一举两得。
（二）、课后补差工作。
班里总会出现一些个别的差生，不是学**惯差就是基础差，教师一定要课后花工夫，进行辅导。例如我就我校实际情况，请示校长，同时得到校领导的大力支持，每天利用早读前20分钟，到三楼电教室给他们补课。让他们把遗忘的知识都温故而知新。我觉得这样做效果还是挺大的，原来不及格的学生都追赶上来了，消灭了不及格率。

Many animals are in danger of dying out. As is shown in the chart, we can see the number of animal species decreases faster and faster and this trend will continue. From 1980 to 20, at least 1 million animal species have disappeared.
Worse still, more and more wild animals are in great danger. It is not a piece of sensational news; it is a fact, a harsh reality. Unfortunately, we may not see these animals in the near future.
From the second picture, we can find some reasons. Why is the number of animal species declining year by year? Apparently animals have become victims of fashion industry. Animal skin has been used to make fashionable clothes and these clothes sell at a high price. So some greedy people begin to kill animals in a large quantity.
This irresponsible behavior not only breaks the balance of nature but also endangers the living environment of human beings.
As far as I am concerned, something must be done to stop this illegal action. We believe "no buying, no killing". First, we must make concerning laws to protect these animals in danger. Second, we must take some measures to protect animals effectively. Animals are our friends and part of our environment.
Third, we should raise people's awareness to protect animals and our environment. In this way, we can build a harmonious society and ensure a sustainable development.

She witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged we've ever been, where in the very depth of the African rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled(拥抱) their babies.
Yes, that's a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Dian Fossey, who spent most of bet lifetime in Rwanda to protect the eco-environment there until the very end of her life.
To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless(永恒的) reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our eco-environment.
Today, we live in a world of prosperity but still threatened by so many new problems. On the one hand, tourism, as one of the most promising industries in the 21st century, provides people with the great opportunity to see everything there is to see and to go any place there is to go. It has become a lifestyle for some people, and has turned out to be the driving force in GDP growth. It has the magic to turn a backward town into a wonderland of prosperity. But on the other hand, many problems can occur---natural scenes aren't natural anymore. Deforestation to heat lodges is devastating Nepal. Oil spills from tourist boats are polluting Antarctica. Tribal people are forsaking their native music and dress to listen to U2 on Walkman and wear Nike and Reeboks.
All these appalling(令人震惊的) facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been eroding(侵蚀) our resources. Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the United Nations has made 20xx the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the world's attention the benefits of tourism, but also its capacity to destroy our eco-environment.
Now every year, many local ecoenvironmental protection organizations an: receiving donations--big notes, small notes or even coins--from housewives, plumbers(水管工人), ambulance drivers, salesmen, teachers, children and invalids(残疾人), Some of them can not afford to send the money but they do. These are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in hospitals, who are suffering from ecological damage in their neighborhood. Why? Because they care, because they still want their Mother Nature back. Because they know it still belongs to them.
This kind of feeling that I have, ladies and gentlemen, is when it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it, it's all coming from a scene to remember, a scene to recall and to cherish.
The other night, as l saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs. I found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to some- thing else, someplace else. a place remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seem to have been except the deer.
And all those unforgettable scenes strengthened the feeling that it's lime for us to do something, for our own and our coming generation.
Once again, I have come to think of Mrs. Dian Fossey be- cause it's with her spirit, passion, courage and strong sense of our eco-environment that we are taking our next step into the world.
And no matter who we are what we do and where we go, in our mind, there's always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it. Thank you very much.

Today, you and all our colleagues around the world are making history.
The new Lenovo has become the worlds third largest PC company. And this makes us the 5th largest IT company in the world. And the largest IT company in China. In fact, the new Lenovo ranks among one of the largest 200 companies of any type in the world.
In a very important Asia market...we are the PC market leader, both profitable, and with more market share than any other company in Asia according to IDC.
We are the ONLY company who manufactures our own notebooks -- with 95% of our ThinkPads built by our own plants -- under the Lenovo flag.
Im very proud of what youve accomplished. Congratulations.
Today I want to thank you for the tremendous hard work that has made us -- the new Lenovo -- an independent company -- a close partner with our parent IBM, and now completely united with our other parent -- Lenovo.

Lenovo will double our profit within 3 years, and grow revenue faster than our industry.
Fourth: Market position
Lenovo is committed to improve our market position every year by ap***ing long term investments where we can become #1 or #2 in share or profit, depending on the market.
Fifth: Is my aspirations for each of us, the people who chose to work at Lenovo.
We at Lenovo will create an inspiring culture of ethics, performance, teamwork and professional development.
Some of these might appear to be big aspirations. I want you to know that we’re committed to them, and that while I expect progress every day, every week, these aspirations will take years to fully achieve.
Now to get this done we have a broad 3-phase plan. Phase one began on December 8th, and will continue well into the beginning of 2006.
ll be at least 12 to 24 months in length.
Our third phase will launch when we stand before the world as the IT sponsor of the Olympics in February of 2006.
So let me speak about phase one:
Deliver on the promise of Lenovo and on our commitments.
By this I mean we must delight our current customers and retain their business. We must maintain product leadership, sales momentum and market share. In phase two we increase our competitiveness through operational excellence, innovation, and branding.
We must continue our focus on operational excellence, speed and efficiency, increase our Think brand equity and grow Lenovo into a worldwide brand. We must build a global innovation and performance culture and reputation.
During this phase we will initiate targeted investments in new products and in new markets.
And then we are ready for the third phase: To drive aggressive, profitable growth.
To do this we will invest to lead in selected market segments.
In each of these three phases we will build on these areas of competitive advantage. This starts with:

Good evening ， ladies and gentlemen 。 I am Joy and glad to give you a speech about stress ， yes ， just the topic you see on the screen。
Psychologist tell us that stress is a state of worry caused by the problem of living ， such as too much work or study ， heavy responsibilities ， and quickened pace of life 。
Statistics show that stress comes from every detail in our life 。 Financial problems ， poor health ， being laid off may be the stress that most adults now suffering 。 As students in the university ， we are also under our special stress 。 While study ， having to take various tests and submit a project against a deadline may put a great pressure on us 。 And the things make us felt stressed may be our parents’s greater expectations on us than we could reach 。 Later ， when we are likely to graduate ， some other problems will also annoy us 。 I think we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and how we can best use what we’ve learned at college in our future job 。
The chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stress 。People usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stress 。 It’s unwelcome ! Yes ， however ， very necessary 。 Just image a world where stress does not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way 。 But is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? Without stress ， they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things 。 Too much satisfaction result in nothing except a countermarch of the society 。 No stress ， no development 。 So a certain amount of stress is good 。 It can stimulate us and increase our level of alertness 。
And our answer to stress is another vital problem 。 How to do with ourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? To wave the white flag and admit our unability ， to give up to our ideality ， or worstly ， just to *** as to put an end to everything … Of cause not 。 The principle is to tackle with stress gentlely and harmoniously。 We should try our best to release ourselves 。 Such as to do some exercise ， to linsen to traditional Chinese music or classical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life as challenges 。It’s no use crying over spilt milk 。 Only to accept what has happened can solve the problem 。
Ok ， I think I was under large stress 3 minutes before ， but now I am here and have finished my speech 。 Here is the last thing I want to add to my topic ，face to it and overcome it ，stress is also a piece of cake 。

My topic is Honesty.
As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was dee*** touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.
