演讲的开头，也叫开场白。它在演讲稿的结构中处于显要的地位，具有特殊的作用。演讲稿的开头，通常有以下几种：
1）开门见山，揭示主题
一般政治性的或者学术性的演讲稿都是开门见山，直接揭示演讲的中心。比如***《在接受加拿大维多利亚大学荣誉法学博士学位仪式上的讲话》的开头：“我为接受加拿大维多利亚大学荣誉法学博士学位感到荣幸。”
运用这种方法，必须先明确把握演讲的中心，把要向听众揭示的论点摆出来，使听众一听就知道讲的中心是什么，注意力马上集中起来。但这种方法容易显得过于*淡、冷静，很难吸引人。
2）说明情况，介绍背景。
比如***《在马克思墓前的讲话》的开头：“三月十四日两点三刻，当代最伟大的思想家停止了思想，……－－但已经永远的睡着了。”
这个开头对事情发生的时间地点人物作出了必要的说明，为进一步向听众揭示论题做准备。运用这种方法开头，一定要从演讲的的中心论点出发，不能信口开河，离题万里，更要防止套话、空话，败坏听者的胃口。
3）提出问题，引起关注。
写演讲稿的开头，可根据听众的特点和演讲的内容，提出一些激发听众思考的问题，以引起听众的兴趣。这种问题应该新颖、独特，确实能促使听众去思考。
演讲稿的开头有多种方法，通常用的主要有：
1．开门见山，提示主题。这种开头是一开讲，就进入正题，直接提示演讲的中心。例如***《在接受加拿大维多利亚大学荣誉法学博士学位仪式上的讲话》的开头：“我为接受加拿大维多利亚大学荣誉法学博士学位感到荣幸。”运用这种方法，必须先明晰地把握演讲的中心，把要向听众提示的论点摆出来，使听众一听就知道讲的中心是什么，注意力马上集中起来。
2．介绍情况，说明根由。这种开头可以迅速缩短与听众的距离，使听众急于了解下文。在1814年生于萨尔茨维德尔。她的父亲冯·威斯特华伦男爵在特利尔城时和马克思一家很亲*；两家人的孩子在一块长大。当马克思进大学的时候，他和自己未来的妻子已经知道他们的生命将永远地连接在一起了。”这个开头对发生的事情、人物对象作出必要的介绍和说明，为进一步向听众提示论题作了铺垫。
3．提出问题，引起关注。这种方法是根据听众的特点和演讲的内容，提出一些激发听众思考的问题，以引起听众的注意。例如弗雷德里克·道格拉斯1854年7月4日在美国纽约州罗彻斯特市举行的国庆大会上发表的《谴责奴隶制的演说》，一开讲就能引发听众的积极思考，把人们带到一个愤怒而深沉的情境中去：“公民们，请恕我问一问，今天为什么邀我在这儿发言？我，或者我所代表的奴隶们，同你们的国庆节有什么相干？《独立宣言》中阐明的政治自由和生来*等的原则难道也普降到我们的头上？因而要我来向国家的祭坛奉献上我们卑微的贡品，承认我们得到并为你们的独立带给我们的恩典而表达虔诚的谢意么？”除了以上三种方法，还有释题式、悬念式、警策式、幽默式、双关式、抒情式等。
开场白技巧
1.开门见山，不讲多余的.话
有的人演讲，开头常讲一些没有必要的客套话。叶圣陶对此曾评述说：“谁也明白，这些都是谦虚的话。可是，在说出来之前，演讲者未免少了一点思考。你说不曾预备，没有什么可以说的，那么为什么要上演说台呢?随后说出来的，无论是三言二语或长篇大论，又算不算'可以说的’呢?你说随便说说，没有什么意思，那么刚才的一本正经，是不是连场作欢呢?自己都相信不过的话，却要说给人家听，又算是一种什么态度呢?”其实，演讲者说这种“多余的话”，并不一定是出自本心，不过是受了陈规旧套的影响，听人家这么说，自己也这么说，结果，往往是使听众松弛了注意力。
实例一：
一般政治性或学术性的演讲稿都是开门见山，直接揭示演讲的中心。如***的《党和国家领导制度的改革》的开头：
这次扩大会议，主要是讨论党和国家领导制度的改革以及—些有关问题。
实例二：
再如张承先的《“三个面向”是教育改革的指针》的开头：
1983年9月，***同志又提出“教育要面向现代比，面向世界，面向未来”。“三个面向"指明了斯历史时期教育工作的战略方向，是今后教育改革的总指针。
这样的开头，使听众一听就知道明白讲的是是什么，注意力马上就能集中起来。
2.交代背景，说明演讲的目的和原因
实例：
例如《在欢迎民主柬埔寨代表闭宴会上*****的讲话》的开头：
在我国举国上下，万众欢腾，热烈庆祝中华人民共和国诞生三十五周年的日子里，以***亲王为团长，宋双和乔森潘阁下为副团长的民主柬埔察代表团特地来参加我国的庆祝活动，并进行正式友好访问，我们感到格外高兴。我代表***和人民，对你们的光临表示热烈的欢迎和哀仓的感谢。
这个开头，说明了这次演讲的背景、起因，使听众了解这篇讲话是在怎样的一种情况下讲的。

从大的方面看，英语演讲词实际上是属于一种特殊的说明文或议论文，其基本组成部分是：
1)开始时对听众的称呼语 最常用的是 ladies and gentlemen，也可根据不同情况，选用 fellow students, distinguished guests, mr chairman, honorable judges(评委)等等。
2)提出论题 由于演讲的时间限制，必须开门见山，提出论题。提出论题的方法有各种各样，但最生动，最能引起注意的是用举例法。比如：你要呼吁大家关心贫穷地区的孩子，你可以用亲眼看到的或者收集到的那些贫穷孩子多么需要帮助的实例开始。另外，用具体的统计数据也是一个有效的引出论题的方法，比如：你要谈遵守交通规则的话题，你可以从举一系列有关车辆、车祸等的数据开始。
3)论证 对提出的论题，不可主观地妄下结论，而要进行客观的论证。这是演讲中最需要下功夫的部分。关键是要把道理讲清楚。
常见的论证方法有举例法、因果法、对比法等等，可参见英语议论文的有关章节。
4)结论 结论要简明扼要，以给听众留下深刻印象。
5)结尾 结尾要简洁，不要拉拉扯扯，说个没完。特别是不要受汉语影响，说些类似“准备不足，请谅解”，“请批评指正”这样的废话。最普通的结尾就是：thank you very much for your attention。

We Are The World ,We Are The Future
Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. I believe that all our dreams can come true if we have courage to pursue them .When I was young my father always asked me what I would be in the future . 65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon's mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was dee*** touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one's error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let's be honest people of good moral character.

once upon a time, a weenie ant was walking on his way. as he was walking, suddenly he felt the ground shaking terribly. he looked around with his paranoid eyes and saw an elephant walking right behind him. quickly, the little ant covered himself with dirt, but one leg was unfortunately left out. a sparrow saw everything, so she flew down with the purpose of teasing the ant: “hey, chicken! watch out your leg, it’s out!” the ant felt embarrassed at first but then calmly responded: “ shi…i am going to trip that elephant.”
right now, i’m standing on this glamorous stage. but everything here reminds me of is a not so fun memory. around this time last year i was in nanjing competing in another speech contest. that was the first time for me to be in such a large event. of course the pressure i was under was immense too. after a sleepless and stressful night, i went onto that stage without the feeling in my legs. that speech turned out to be horrible. i don’t remember how i get down from there, but i do remember afterwards i just wanted to find a hole to hide in just like the ant in the story. back at my school, it took a long time for me to recover. thanks to all the help i got from my special friends. my confidence was restored. after rounds of giving speeches and answering tough questions, i am here today. from all that i’ve been through i’ve learned that a good future is based on a forgotten past, if i want my life to go on well i have to let go of my past failure. so today, with out fear, i am tripping my elephant again.
There is a well-known proverb，“Every horse thinks its own pack heaviest,” which means whether people feel optimistic or not lies in what attitudes they adopt. It is universally acknowledged that life is by no means perfect and a positive attitude makes life brighter. As the case stands, it is our attitude rather than the situation itself that determines how we feel.

What life is about
As we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, tons of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us.
Life isn’t about keeping score. Life isn’t about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin. In fact it’s not about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about that.
But life is about whom you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. And we should always remember to be ourselves. Let me give you some data to back up that claim. So here's a study of change in people's personal values over time. Here's three values. Everybody here holds all of them, but you probably know that as you grow, as you age, the balance of these values shifts. So how does it do so? Well, we asked thousands of people. We asked half of them to predict for us how much their values would change in the next 10 years, and the others to tell us how much their values had changed in the last 10 years. And this enabled us to do a really interesting kind of ***ysis, because it allowed us to compare the predictions of people, say, 18 years old, to the reports of people who were 28, and to do that kind of ***ysis throughout the lifespan.

my great pleasure to share my dream with you today.When I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. My father was a teacher, and he taught me a lot. I worshiped him very much. On my tenth birthday, he asked me,“What do you want to be when you grow up?”I answered proudly,“I want to be a teacher like you!”On hearing this, my father was very happy and said to me, “Work hard and your dream will come true.” Not long ago, one of my primary school teachers was ill. And then I went to Harvard Business School. I graduated from Harvard Business School, and because my family was in business. I decided to go into banking, to get some experience in banking. I didn’t understand so much about what banking was all about, but I learned. I worked for Citi Group, and when I was in the middle of working in Citi Group for 4 years, I had an opportunity to work at the White House because Citi Group had a special program. They selected outstanding performers within the bank and then gave them opportunity to support them for an intern in the government. I was selected as a White House fellow. I worked at the White House for one year. It was a difficult time, not easy, but I was so excited. It was so interesting because there was no Chinese, no Asian at the White House at that time, so I felt I was blazing a new trail for other Asian Americans. And I was learning a lot to be a better leader in the future. I worked for the White House for a year.
The President at that time was Wilson Reagan. He was from California. I grew up in New York. I had never been to California, so I decided to go to California, so I found a job in Bank of America in California and moved to California. I didn’t know anybody. I didn’t have friends there, but I was excited. I just wanted to see what California was like. So I was within California for 3 years and one day I got a phone call from Secretary Elizabeth Dole, and she was the Secretary of Transportation, and she needed someone who understood banking which I gained the experience from Citi Bank, and she also needed someone who understood shipping which I also had gained in Bank of America, so the two expert teams really helped me to get the job that she had admired. She had a portfolio (证券投资组合) in the Department of Transportation that was losing $1.8 a year, and she needed a banker to go and clear it up. So within one weekend I flew back from California, found an apartment in Washington D.C and started work on Monday. This is Maritime Administration. I worked there for 2 years and learned a great deal about the government. Around 2 years later, I was appointed Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission. The reason why I was appointed was because the previous chairman of Federal Maritime Commission had passed away suddenly. The government needed someone who understood shipping, who had been in the government in shipping, who can be the Chairman. So once again my particular background in shipping, transportation and banking was very important, so I was the Chairman for a year, and then a new president came in. It was the first President Bush, and he asked me to be the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transportation. At that time I was 35, though older than you, very very young. I was the youngest Deputy Secretary in the whole government and I was also the first Asian American Deputy Secretary in United States government.
And then in 1992, more than 20 years ago, such a long time ago, President Bush lost his re-election. When he loses re-election, what happened to America is that everybody who was with him goes. So I joined United Way of America. United Way of America was the NO.1 charity in America. I was there for 4 years.
I had little time to get married at the age of 39. It was very late. My husband, as you know, is the leader of Congress. He is a very good husband. He does his own laundry, he cooks and helps me with the house too. He is very encouraging women. I think it is really important to find someone who is going to be your life partner because they will help you adapt your life and they will help you adapt to your career as well.
In 1996, I wanted a break, so I joined Think Tank where I took some time to study and learn more about American political system, how to get ideas across, because America is a very confrontational society. People are arguing all the time, so some people are saying this, some people are saying that, and it’s OK. There is a lot of fighting back and forth. And then in 20xx, President George W. Bush was getting ready for his president chosen, and I had known him before, because I had companied with him for his father, and I knew him also at Harvard Business School. President George W. Bush was class of 71, and I was the class of 1979, so we knew each other from that as well. You will be interested to know that I was actually supposed to get, I thought, Department of Transportation, but nominate of Department of Transportation, so I was very disappointed.
I can tell you a lesson that if you face a disappointment, NO. 1, you must always think of a long term, so even though it can be a disappointment, don’t be discouraged. If you handle the disappointment well, there will be lots of other opportunities. So indeed, I was originally not offered, but I was indicated that Secretary of Labor was a position that they wanted for me. I wasn’t very familiar with labor as much as I was familiar with transportation. So I was hoping to be appointed to transportation. When it did not happen, I was very calm and I thanked the President and his team for considering me. I wish them well in their new administration, thinking that I will not be going to be a part of it. 2 weeks afterwith, the President nominate for the Secretary of Labor position encountered difficulties in confirmation hearing. In United States, the President proposes a Secretary, and then the Congress, the Senate approves. So the original choice for the Secretary of Labor encountered difficulties in her confirmation process, and she had to drop out(退出). So the White House, the President had to find a new Secretary of Labor, someone they trusted, someone they know, can clear and gain the approval of the Senate, who had no blemish on their records, so they can go through the confirmation process very easily. They approached me again and asked me whether I would be interested in accepting the position of the Secretary of Labor, so that was how I became the Secretary of Labor.
I wasn’t the first choice because my world at that time was so small that there were so few Asian Americans in the government at that time. There was no guide, no one to tell me what to expect, but what I did find helpful was what my parents were talking, you have to have courage, interest and curiosity. I think one thing my parents talked to me a great deal of is curiosity. You have to have interest, you have to have curiosity, and if you are curious, you will go on and seek more doors and more opened and these doors opened for you, if you have persistence, planned ahead, and if you have the will to persist. The world is changing so rapidly, so you have the same opportunities for you. I can’t tell you what the opportunities are, but if you have interest, and have the will, and you have the confidence, you will have a lot of opportunities.

Love——the key to motivate our students Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, It is a great honor to be chosen to speak here. I value this chance of sharing teaching experience with distinguished teachers very much. To be honest I felt rather nostalgic when somebody told me I would make a speech before all of you fine people. I can still remember when I made my first speech in college. My heart would have jumped out of my chest if I hadn’t tried my best to control my breath. The reason lies in the fact that I really didn’t know what to say at that time! Well today, being a teacher of English for some years in Shenzhen, I have a strong sense of responsibility, which always fills me with strength and confidence. I am from Xinzhou Middle School located in the west part of Shenzhen. There are two extremes in my school. About 38% are from local resident families, whose parents are rich and some even rich enough to own several buildings. But some of the children in such families turned out to be slow in their lessons. They seem to have everything but the motivation of learning. However, About 60% of the students are from working class families in the villages near by, whose parents hold temporary residence identities. Sometimes when we visit these students at home we noticed that a large proportion of their living standards are very critical. Some don’t even have desks good enough to finish their homework on. No wonder they appear quite reluctant to pay enough attention to the teachers in classes, and always find excuses not to finish their homework. And according to assessment criteria there are 40% students struggling to get a pass in the English learning. Some even can not make a proper sentence before they are going to take the matriculation examinations. I still remember once I saw my student coming to school with one arm hanging on her neckk. When asked she just said she was careless when she run across a pond, fell down and broke her arm. But later I got to know that she fell from the place she sleeps on the temporary second floor at home, where half of it is a small shop in the village, while she was climbing down the ladder. At that time she was in a hurry to go to school. Not until then did I realized how hard it is for some of our students to manage to survive in Shenzhen, let along concentrate in learning their lessons at school. I believe if children live in poverty, they learn to fight for their future, if children live in comfort they learn to enjoy themselves. Then come the question, “How could I help them?” “What do they need most?” After some years of practicing I got to know three golden rules in English teaching in such kind of schools. Rule No.1 Getting to know what exactly problems in our students’ learning English have and trying best to give them individual instructions; Rule No.2 Try best to build up their confidence, let them have a taste of success. Make them believe that English is not that difficult as they thought to be; Rule No.3 Never trying to teach them the knowledge of English until they really mastered their own way of studying. For the most valuable knowledge is not the knowledge itself; it is the learning strategy. Rule No. 4 The most important aspect in teaching here is love we cherish during teaching. If we don’t love our students whole-heartedly we will never succeed in secondary education in Shenzhen. So from what my experience, “love” is the key to motivate our students! Thank you!

Several technologies that we usually use are the internet， computer， and cellphone. These new technologies make our life much easier and better.
First， the development of computer changes our life. Decades ago， people needed to do lots of complex calculation on hand because they did not have computer， and more obvious， they did not have the software for calculation. As the result of that， people spent hours on the equations that a computer can solve in just a minute. Since the development of computer， people are able to use some kind of software to compute lots of complex functions and mathematical calculation. Also， internet is another useful tool for us today. The development of internet brings a great impact toward the society. I received a devastating blow to my selfconfidence in the first interview of my college years. I applied to be a host in our Student Acting Troupe and felt confident that I would be accepted. But one of the panel members told me: “You seem inadequate and you are a little verticallychallenged.” My life has never been the same since. I used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. But no matter how hard I tried to look the part, there was still something missing. As president of English Club, I organized the rehearsal of Snow White for an English party. Unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. It had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in English. Suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and I knew I would have to be the dwarf. There is a very beautiful river in Paris.It is the Seine,it runs across the City,people drink coffee, chat on the bank in the day,at night,they enjoy the beautiful scenery in the boat,songs from the river fly into the Sky made the river more attractive, the Seine is a famous symbol of France;on the west coast of pacific ocean there lies the modern City Shanghai,anot ther river which used to be a very important transportation route runs through the center of the city,people respected and regard it as"mother".It is the"suzhou river,but l believe that few of you would sit beside it,people will be scattered by the terrible smell of water when walk by.I have to say it is e_tremely dirty! And we all know that a lot of beautiful rivers in the world also are Sharing the same fate with suzhou river.
Many human activities and their by-products have the potential to pollute water. Please have a look along the banks of the river, large and small industrial enterprises discharge dirty water, tons of garbage were thrown into the river, the water contained so much that it can't clean itself. Compared with the dramatic development in many sides of Shanghai, the suzhou river has become a black point of the appearance of city.
Fortunately, the government has control the situation now, we are happy to see some parts of the river has become clean again, and we even can find fish sometime.
The unique earth is the only planet full of lives, the water is just like the blood in the active body, protecting water is saving ourselves. Not to waste a single drop of water, otherwise, the only drop of water we could keep in the future would be our tear!

My dictionary defines happy as "lucky" or "fortunate", but I think a better definition of happiness is "the capacity for enjoyment". The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It's easy to overlook the pleasure we get from loving and being loved, the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, even good health.

We all experience moments like these. Too few of us register them as happiness.

The plot of12 Angry Men revolves around the murder trail of a Latino boy who is accused of killing his father.The conviction of the boy would mean a death sentence and the destiny of the boys life is in the hands of twelve male jurors of ranging personalities.The case seems open and shut with a murder weapon and several witnesses to place the boy at the scene of the crime.For eleven of the jurors the decision is apparent that the boy is guilty but for one juror,Mr.Davis (Hey Fonda),the boys life should entail some discussion to eliminate any reasonable doubt the jurors may have.As the film progresses the personalities of the jurors become apparent and many underlying issues influence the guilty decision chosen by the majority of the jurors.
The underlying issues are the complexity of the personalities of the jurors and the reasons why they have the motivation to feel and act the way they do.As the case unfolds further,more is learned about each juror individually.The personalities range from being a short-tempered loud mouth to a straight- laced accountant who never breaks a sweat.As the movie progresses much more is learned of the characters that exposes the intricacy of human nature and peoples different personality traits.
This film is an excellent example of movie making that does not require elaborate sets to entertain the viewer.The majority of the film takes place in a jury room with the men never leaving the room from their deliberation responsibilities.The cast and dialogue make this film memorable and the film has some clear moral issues that are addressed.The main issue is that not everything is as it seems.With further ***ysis the understanding of a situation becomes more concrete enabling the men to make a solid decision that affects a young mans life.12 Angry Men is a classic film that should not be missed.

first of all, i’d like to talk about the importance of speaking good english and share my experience in learning english with you. as you know, english has become an international language. wherever you go, english is always commonly used. it is convenient to know the language. at the same time, english may be the most important factor in deciding which countries are leaders in the future. the language of the most advanced management and technology is undoubtedly english. being able to absorb this information is really the key to the new century. in the 21century. we can’t go there and speak our own language because nobody is going to learn it in order to understand us. our asian rival, india, has surged ahead of other developing countries in information technology because of its superior english skills. unlewe are able to master english, we will not be able to get our population to use it and take advantage of the new economy. there is an urgent need to have a workforce which is proficient in the language in view of the information technology onslaught.
second, about learning english, i think laying a strong foundation is the first and most important step. in other words, you should read and speak english every day. memorizing new words and phrases is also helpful. of course, learning english takes some time, so don’t be impatient. remember, rome wasn’t built in a day. and then since english is not our native tongue, we must develop the muscles of your speech organs to produce unfamiliar sounds. when you read, read as loudly as possible, as clearly as possible and as quickly as possible. tongue muscles’ training is of importance in learning any foreign language.
third, if you want to speak good english, please don’t care how poorly well you speak, only care about catching the chances to speak. you must enjoy losing face, just forget about your face. the more you speak, the better your english will become. the more mistakes you make, the more progreyou will make. you must enjoy speaking poor english, because speaking is the only thing that will lead you towards success. don’t give up. just try your best. every time you move your mouth, your memory will deepen, your muscles will strengthen. you can make it.
i have made a considerable amounts of public english speaking in my life, i am often asked why the crazy english method is better than other methods or if the crazy english method will help all english learners. my answer is, the method will help the english learners because it is a perfect match with the chinese principles of diligence, self-help and determination. mere exposure to english will not enable you to speak english. if you want to drive you have to get in the car and drive, if you want to dance you have to turn on the music and dance, if you want to swim you have to jump in the water and swim. in fact, swimming is the perfect comparison to learning english. you can’t learn to swim by sitting in a room and reading books about swimming skills. in order to be a swimmer you’ve got to conquer you fear, you’ve got to survive and suck in water, yell for help, you’ve got to lose face many times before you can make it. but, to be a good swimmer you’ve got to practice again and again. to be a great swimmer you have to practice for years until you can harmonize every part of your body and mind.
THE first time I saw Bao was in 20xx the year when Thomas and Uber Cup was held. At that time he was playing against Li zongwei who is also a good player from Malaysia. Bao beat him. To tell the truth at first the reason why I liked him was just because I thought he was pretty.xxxxmaybe it is not a suitable word but I think no better word can describe him he is really pretty!xxx From that time I have focused on him. Then gradually I found that he not only has good appearance but also has a talent for badminton.
He is very tall about 1.90 meters. He is the tallest one among all the players in the Chinese Badminton Team. As he is as old as Lin dan who is the top one in the world he is always put into a situation which is not good to him. He seldom beats Lin dan so he gained a name which is called’千年老二’. In fact his techniques are comprehensive but he is lack of passion the desire to win is not so strong. So he always has misplays. Due to this he seldom wins the gold medal. I think this is related to his character. He is easygoing and couth; he looks as if he will never get angry with anybody. So this affects him while he is playing badminton. In a period of time critical voice has come towards him. He is under great pressure. He was not in the best state. But recently he cheers up again. Several days ago the Chinese Badminton Championship 20xx was held in Guangzhou. I went to see him on Saturday. I was very excited and I shouted loudly hoping he could hear me. There is no doubt that he won the game. Before he went away he waved hand to us how excited I was at that time! The next day he beat Li zongwei again and he won the man’s single gold medal. All of us are very happy. After 7 years which could be a long time for an athlete he proved himself again in Guangzhou which is considered as his lucky place.
I think this will be the energy of his advancing. And I hope he can keep this fighting will and win the gold medal in the 29th Olympic Games held in Beijing!

Today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. what is success? it is what everyone is longing for.sometimes success would be rather simple. winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now i am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.

We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war. I do not say that we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land or sea, but I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours.
There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation many never come again. But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?
We choose to go to the moon. It is for these reasons that I regard the decision last year to shift our efforts in space from low to high gear as among the most important decisions that will be made during my incumbency in the office of the Presidency.
In the last 24 hours we have seen facilities now being created for the greatest and most complex exploration in man's history. We have felt the ground shake and the air shattered by the testing of a Saturn C-1 booster rocket, many times as powerful as the Atlas which launched John Glenn, generating power equivalent to 10,000 automobiles with their accelerators on the floor. We have seen the site where five F-1 rocket engines, each one as powerful as all eight engines of the Saturn combined, will be clustered together to make the advanced Saturn missile, assembled in a new building to be built at Cape Canaveral as tall as a 48 story structure, as wide as a city block, and as long as two lengths of this field.
Within these last 19 months at least 45 satellites have circled the earth. Some 40 of them were made in the United States of America and they were far more sophisticated and supplied far more knowledge to the people of the world than those of the Soviet Union.

My name is Jie Lidi. Today, my topic is: “Confidence”. As we all know, failure is the mother of success. But What I want to say is that success is the child of confidence. Without confidence, things can becom#e negative and uncom#fortable. I remember, during an English class, I wanted to make a sentence using the word "listen". I should have said: "I listen to the Voice of America" but I was too nervous and said "I listen to the Noise of America".
Everybody in the class laughed. Since then I wanted to train myself to be confident. Now, confidence makes me brave and courageous. Take this speech for example. I wanted to enter this com#petition, but I would feel very embarrassed if I made mistakes. Just then, I thought about my dream.
My dream is to becom#e a scientist when I grow up. If I am not confident, how can I overcom#e difficulties I face? If I am not confident, how can I succeed in developing myself in the future? You all are leaving your alma mater now. i have no gift to present you all except a piece of advice.
What i would like to advise is that "don’t give up your study." most of the courses you have taken are partly for your certificate. you had no choice but to take them. from now on, you may study on your own. i would advise you to work hard at some special field when you are still young and vigorous. your youth will be gone that will never come back to you again. when you are old, and when your energy are getting poorer, you will not be able to as you wish to. even though you have to study in order to make a living, studies will never live up to you. making a living without studying, you will be shifted out in three or five years. at this time when you hope to make it up, you will say it is too late. perhaps you will say, "after graduation and going into the society, we will meet with an urgent problem, that is, to make a living. for this we have no time to study. even though we hope to study, we have no library nor labs, how can we study further?"
I would like to say that all those who wait to have a library will not study further even though they have one and all these who wait to have a lab will not do experiments even though they have one. when you have a firm resolution and determination to solve a problem, you will naturally economize on food and clothing.
As for time, i should say it’s not a problem. you may know that every day he could do only an hour work, not much more than that because darwin was ill for all his life. you must have read his achievements. every day you spend an hour in reading 10 useful pages, then you will read more than 3650 pages every year. in 30 years you will have read 110,000 pages.
My fellow students, reading 110,000 pages will make you a scholar. but it will take you an hour to read three kinds of small-sized newspapers and it will take you an hour and a half to play four rounds of mahjian pieces. reading small-sized newspapers or playing mahjian pieces, or working hard to be a scholar? it’s up to you all.
