关于端午节的由来，有许多传说，不过我们最常说的'还是关于屈原的故事。屈原是一位有名的爱国诗人。他十几岁就当上了楚国大臣，受到楚王的重用。几个奸臣看到屈原这么受楚王的重用和宠爱，心里非常嫉妒，于是他们就用计陷害屈原。楚王在几个奸臣的蛊惑下迷了心窍，便把屈原流放他乡。屈原在流亡期间，听到自己的国家破灭、百姓生不如死的消息，悲从心来，愤然跳进了汩罗江。百姓们听到这个悲痛的消息后，都深深地为屈原感到悲伤和惋惜，众人赶紧划船打捞屈原的尸体，为了防止鱼虾损伤他的躯体，人们纷纷用竹筒装上米投入江中。以后，每到这一天人们都会用竹筒装上米投入江中祭奠屈原，以表示对他的崇敬和怀念。就这样，包粽子的*俗流传下来。屈原投江的那一天正是阴历的五月初五。由此，端午节吃粽子的*俗被人们保留下来。
