Several years ago, I was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the United States for about two years. Now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, a beautiful view of California will arise in my mind: white clouds flying across the blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and small animals playing happily among the trees.

Later, I also learnt another interesting fact of environment protection there. In some states of America, in order to decrease air pollution, save energy and reduce traffic jams, state governments encourage people to take buses to work or to share a car among several people. They even set special "diamond lanes" in some main streets, which are only for the vehicles with 2 or more people.
The positive actions of American people and the effective measures the American government takes in environment protection fully won my respects and dee* affected my consciousness in environment protection.
When I was back in China, people often asked me: " What do you think of America?" I always bolt out:" Wonderful, especially the beautiful environment." Frankly speaking, after several years, the faces of my American teachers and friends have gradually faded away from my mind, but the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California often arise in my mind, and became my dream of visiting there again.
The 2010 Olympics provide us with the opportunity to publicize and practise environment protection in Beijing. Here is the first one.More and more people used to be using air condition,but how many people ever thought whether this new ?hobby? will bring side-effects or not? Maybe just few people.In fact,the side-effect is apparent.The emissions of gases exhausted from air conditioning contain a lot of methane which could cause global warming.By the way,air conditioning will waste a lot of electricity .
The second one is about the increasing amount of cars.According to the statistics,in 21st century,there are 7 millions cars in the world,a large amount of exhaust gases has seriously influenced us,such as: cough,throat inflammation.
This two phenomenons are just few part of reason which change our environment badly.There are many other reasons.
In nearly 100 years,the average global temperature experienced twice fluctuations which is “cold-warm-cold-warm”.Generally,it is the trend that global climate is becoming warmer and warmer .In 1980s,global temperature rised apparently.According to Chinese scientists,the average temperature in China has risen by 1.1 degrees centigrade in the last 5 decades.It is higher than the reported global average.We are seeing more frequent bouts of extreme weather in many parts of the country.For example,last spring,the most severe drought in 50 years hit northern China affecting the livelihood of 4 million people.Environmental damage and climate change is a reality for us.Out of the world?s most polluted 20 cities,half are in China,70% of Chinese rivers are polluted .China has become the largest carbon emitter of the world.
It is really thought-provoking(发人深省).Who pays for it ? In my opinion,it is the high time for us to take action.In order to save the earth,we should try to do things below: no air conditioning,use recycled paper,abandon meat food,don?t use plastic bags,take a bus.It is little drops of life.As long as everyone takes action,it will be a powerful strength to rescue our planet.All countries are supposed to take the legislative initiative as soon as possible.Only in this way can the global warming be put under control.

People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population e xxx plosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.

in our current society, we can’t be more familiar with the phrase ----the low carbon economy. we all take it for granted due to the fact the concept of low carbon economy enjoys a higher and higher popularity in our daily life, especially after today’s speech contestj .but how can we achieve the goal of low carbon economy?
so what’s low carbon life style?
let’s look back on our daily life. every morning as soon as you open your eyes, are you used to turn on the lights immediately when the room is bright enough as long as you draw the window curtains apart? is that your habit that when you are brushing your teeth you leave the water tap running on? are you accustomed to setting the temperature of the air conditioner in your office below 26 degrees celsius? in general, a low-carbon lifestyle covers many aspects of our modern life, such as cooking, transportation, home heating, and holiday travel, which can be conducted in a way that gives the maximum reduction of personal carbon emissions. it is a life with low energy, low consumption, low expenses.
As time goes by, man is making the earth sick. People cut down too manytrees and leave rubbish everywhere. Factories let out their waste without doinganying to it . This has cause some serious problems. Such as the land is sandy,the river is dirty, the air is less clean, even the temperature of the earth isrising. What should we do to save the earth ? My suggestion is that we shouldplant more trees, put rubbish into dusbins and stop factories pouring wastedirectly into the air or rivers. In all, we have only one earth, we should doour best to protect it, or we will regret.

Food between China and Western countries are totally different styles. China has 5000 years history. We probably spend half of time on food. Chinese people choice food very carefully. They only use fresh material to make food. For example they only eat fresh fish. Chinese have a lot of ideas and techniques for cooking. We can cook a chicken in over ten ways. That’s why Chinese food is so popular in the world. Western country like English or American, they don’t have fresh food because they buy their food from supermarket which only sells stored materials. Western people would also prefer fast food like burgers and chips. They are unhealthy to human body. Western people do not have many skills for cooking, mostly they only boil, steam and bake the food. By the way, western people are very good at making desert and chocolate. They can make very good cake and chocolate. They are very sweet but it’s sort of food which make you become fat quickly.
In china if you invite people for meal, the person who invited other people would pay for the meal but it’s not the way in Western country. In western country people will think you only invited me but it’s not your responsibility to pay for me. I can afford it. They won’t be happy if you pay for them. People in China would always put dishes into customer’s plate to show their hospitality, but they will think it’s not healthy because your chopsticks have been used by you. In western country like America not England, people will always give tips to waiter after they finished meal in a restaurant. If you don’t they will not be happy because tips are one of their major income. In china this only happen in some top restaurants and hotels in large international cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Western people will also think you are rude if you make sound during the meal. Western people do not hold their bowl up even when they have a bowl of soup.
There is also a huge difference between Chinese and Western people. Chinese people use chopsticks and western people use fork and knife. Usually people who use fork and knife will use fork to hold the meat and cut it by knife and use fork to help to get that piece of meat into mouse. Chinese just use chopstick to pick things and pass it into your mouse.
Chinese people only have three meals during a day. But western people will have more, they have afternoon tea. Usually they would have fruits, homemade cake, tea (black tea) or biscuit with cheese. If you are a housewife and have a lot of time, you may have morning tea as well.
My hometown is in Shaanxi, where there are many specialties and scenery. Although Shaanxi cuisine has not entered the eight major cuisines of China, the mutton paomo and Qishan saozi noodles in Shaanxi are very good. Next, I will talk about the mutton steamed bun in Shaanxi.

Don t just cover the filling with the wrappers. The best shape of dumplings is that of a ship because when they are boiling in the pan they look like ships sailing in the sea. The smell can make your mouth water.
